In 2018, Phil Mickelson beat Tiger Woods in a dramatic matchplay golf duel. The head-to-head challenge took place at the Shadow Creek Golf Course in Las Vegas, and saw the two legendary golfers battle for the $9 million winner-takes-all prize. Tied after 18 holes, they played an additional four playoff holes before Mickelson sank a four-foot putt for a rich victory. Titled “The Match,” the event was a hit for golf lovers who have long enjoyed watching the competitive rivalry between the two athletes. Woods has won 15 major championships and 82 PGA Tour events, while Mickelson has won 5 major championships and 44 PGA Tour events. The two have been matched together on 30 different occasions. The series stands at 13-13-4.
