On this day in 1987, the Toronto Blue Jays hit a record 10 home runs against the Baltimore Orioles. Seven players hit at least one homer during the slug fest.George Bell, who was named the American League MVP, hit two dingers. However, catcher Ernie Whitt led the entire team with three homers. Whitt became the second Toronto Blue Jays player to notch three homers in a single game. To cap off the magical game, rookie Fred Mcgriff hit Toronto’s 10th home run of the night in the eighth inning. The performance was an airshow for the ages. The last team to come close, was the 1999 Cincinnati Reds when they hit nine home runs against the Phillies.
