On this day in 2015, Novak Djokovic defeated Roger Federer 6–4, 5–7, 6–4, 6–4 to win the U.S. Open Men’s Tennis title. The victory made him the third man,  after Rod Laver and Federer, to reach all four Grand Slam finals in the same year in Open Era. Djokovic won 17 Grand Slam singles titles which include a record eight Australian Open titles, five Wimbledon titles, three US Open titles, and one French Open title. He has also won five ATP Finals titles, 35 ATP Tour Masters 1000 titles, and 14 ATP Tour 500 titles. Djokovic is currently ranked no. 1 in the ATP rankings and has held the spot for over 280 weeks. During his career Djokovic has earned close to $144 million in prize winnings.
