On this day in 2011, the Los Angeles Sparks clawed their way back to a hard-fought win. The Sparks scored 16 straight points to overcome a 15 point second-half deficit, and handed the Tulsa Shock their WNBA record 18th consecutive loss with a 73-67 victory. The 18th consecutive loss for the Shock was the worst losing streak, since the Atlanta Dream lost 17 in a row during their inaugural 2008 season. Unfortunately, the Sparks would go on to finish the season with a 15-19 record leaving them out of the playoffs. 2012 proved to be a bounceback year with the addition of their newest draft pick, Nneka Ogwumike. Ogwumike would go on to be named Rookie of the Year and the league MVP in 2016. Nneka Ogwumike, Candace Parker, and Kristi Toliver proved to be the big three that LA needed. In 2016, the LA Sparks became champions once again.
