Today in Sports History: March 17

On March 17, 2010, Michael Jordan was approved as majority owner of the Charlotte Bobcats (now known as the Charlotte Hornets). Jordan was already a minority owner of the team, and when he was unanimously approved by the NBA’s Board of Directors, he became the first former player to be a majority owner of an NBA team. This also made Jordan the NBA’s first African-American majority owner.
