Today in Sports History: December 22

On December 22, 2003, the New York Knicks hired Detroit Pistons legend Isiah Thomas as their president of basketball operations. Despite his success as a player, Thomas was ultimately not a very successful president of basketball operations, and at one point during his tenure he was named head coach of the Knicks. Thomas recorded the fifth-lowest winning percentage for a head coach in Knicks history, and in 2008 was fired as president and coach.
