On December 20, 1985, legendary sportscaster Howard Cosell left ABC Sports television and returned to radio after writing an autobiography that was critical of some of his colleagues. Cosell is considered one of the greatest sports broadcasters of all time, and after he left television, he returned to where he started his career, radio. Cosell was known for having a uniquely different personality than all other sportscasters at the time, with such a confident attitude that he was often considered arrogant—while his style was initially ridiculed, it was soon emulated by many of his contemporaries and those that followed.
