On December 15, 1982, the New York Giants announced that defensive coordinator Bill Parcells would be their next head coach. After a difficult first season which ended with a 3-12-1 record, the Giants turned it around under Parcells, winning Super Bowl XXI and XXV. Parcells would go on to coach the New England Patriots, New York Jets and Dallas Cowboys, earning a reputation of taking bad teams and turning them into playoff contenders. He is the only coach to lead four different teams to the playoffs, and is widely considered one of the top 10 coaches in NFL history.
