Today in Sports History: October 11

By Jonah Sharf

On October 11, 1997, Chicago Bull Dennis Rodman returned from an 11-game suspension—at the time the second-longest suspension in NBA history. Rodman was known for being an outstanding defender and rebounder, but he was also known just as much for his behavior. This particular suspension stemmed from him tripping over a cameraman on the baseline and kicking him in the groin in response. It wasn’t the last time he was suspended, but his tenacious play helped him win two championships with the Pistons and three more with the Bulls.
