Today in Sports History: May 25

Joe Frazier knocked out Ron Stander in a 1972 heavyweight boxing bout. The Fraizer-Stander bout was at the first official heavyweight title fight held in Nebraska. Stander has a 23-1-1 record while Fraizer entered the ring with a 10-1 record. The fight was stopped by a ring doctor and Fraizer won a fifth-round technical knockout. Many consider this fight to be the highlight of Standerโ€™s boxing career. He is also remembered for his 1970 victory over Earnie Shavers in 1970 and his victory over Thad Spencer in 1971. Stander finished his boxing career with a a 37-21 record and recored 28 wins by KO.
