In 2015, The Golden State Warriors’ Klay Thompson scored 52 points in a 126-101 win over the Sacramento Kings. Thompson set an NBA record for points in a quarter by scoring 37 in the third. It broke the record of 33 points previously held by George Gervin and Carmelo Anthony. The 11th pick in the 2011 draft, Thompson is known for his quick catch, ability to shoot behind the arc, and defensive prowess. He played a huge role in the Warriors dynasty alongside his sharpshooting teammate Stephen Curry. The sharpshooting duo dubbed the “splash brothers,” formed one of the greatest backcourts in team history. Thompson and Curry became the first two players in NBA history to make at least 200 three-pointers in five consecutive seasons. During the 2015-16 season the duo combined for 678 made threes, and finished no.1 and no.2 on the 3-pt field goals list. Together, they have won three NBA championships, started in the same NBA All-Star game, and both are winners of the NBA Three-Point Contest. Thompson’s other accolades include NBA All-Defensive Second Team, 2x All-NBA Third Team, and 5x NBA All-Star. Unfortunately, Thompson is out this season recovering from a torn right achilles tendon.
