On this day in 1960, the Boston Celtics pulled down 109 rebounds in a game against Detroit Pistons to establish an NBA record as the Celtics beat the Pistons 150-106. Bill Russell and Sam Jones led the effort grabbing 29 and 16 rebounds respectively. The Celtics finished their 15th season in the NBA with a regular season with a 57-22 record. They beat the St. Louis Hawks in five games to win the NBA title and claim their fourth championship. Bill Russell put on a dominant performance to close out the Hawks scoring 30 points and grabbing 38 rebounds.
