On this day in 2018, Kansas City quarterback Patrick Mahomes set an NFL record of ten touchdowns in the first two weeks of the season. In the second game of the season, Mahomes torched the Pittsburgh Steelers with six TD passes. Mahomes completed 23 of 28 passes for 326 yards, and led the Chiefs to 42-37 victory on the road. The young quarterback would proved to be the league’s star, after leading the Chiefs to a 12-4 season. Mahomes completed the 2018 season with 50 touchdowns and was named NFL MVP. The very next season, Mahomes led the Kansas City Chiefs to victory at Super Bowl LIV. In that game, Mahomes threw for 286 yards and two touchdowns to defeat the San Francisco 49ers 31-20. Mahomes was named as the Super Bowl MVP.
