On this day in 2019, Houston Astros pitcher Justin Verlander struck out 14 players to complete his third career no-hitter in a win against the Toronto Blue Jays. This marked the 13th no-hitter in Houston Astros franchise history, and put Verlander in elite company. Verlander is only the sixth pitcher in MLB history to record three no-hitters, joining the ranks of those like Cy Young and Jake Arrieta. Since joining the Astros in 2017, Verlander has found much team and personal success. Verlander helped lead the Astros to their 2017 World Series title, won his second Cy Young Award, selected to the All-Star game twice, and recently became a part of the 3,000 strikeout club.
