On this day in 2008, the Redeem Team lived up to their name by once again claiming gold at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. Following disappointing bronze medals during the 2004 Summer Olympics and the 2006 FIBA World Championship, some wondered whether America was still the best at basketball. The doubters were quickly silenced following an 8-0 record, where the U.S. edged out Spain 118-107 for the gold medal. Led by the likes of LeBron James, Dwyane Wade & Kobe Bryant, the team featured 11 All-Stars and two NBA MVPs. Dwyane Wade led the team in scoring averaging 16 points per game.
