The Dallas Mavericks surprise fans with their first-ever championship win over the Miami Heat. After trailing 2-1 in the 2011 Finals, the Mavericks defeated won the championship in six games. This was the second time the Mavericks met the Heat in the Finals (perviously the Heat defeated them in 2006). The Mavericks’ win marks the first time since 1999 that the Dallas Fort Worth areas celebrated a major sports win.
