In 1995, Jason Kidd and Grant Hill shared NBA Rookie of the Year honors. Kidd and Hill here the first co-winners wince the honors went to Dave Cowens and Geoff Petrie in 1971. Most recently, Elton Brand and Steve Francis shared the title in 2000. The Rookie of the Year Trophy is named in honor of Eddie Gottlieb. Gottlieb was a former Philadelphia Warriors Head Coach who is credited with helping to shape the modern NBA. The trophy was first awarded in the 1952-53 season.
