Game 5 of the 1984 Eastern Conference first-round matched Bernard King against Isiah Thomas. Thomas scored Detroit’s final 14 points in a span of just 1:34 which sent the game into overtime. He was pitted against King who scored 12 of his game-high 44 points in the final 5:12 of the fourth quarter. Bernard King and the New York Knicks beat Thomas and the Pistons 127-123 in overtime. The Knicks would lose to the Celtics in the next round. Bernard King went on to have a Hall of Fame career as a 4x All-Star with a career average 22 ppg.
