Today in Sports History: March 15

Moses Malone tallied his 15,000th career rebound during an Atlanta Hawks versus Dallas Mavericks game. Malone was known for his defensive skills and led the league in rebounds six times, including a five season streak between 1981 and 1985. Malone was nicknamed “Chairman of the Boards” and  had the most combined ABA and NBA offensive rebounds (7,382) at the time of his retirement. Malone ranks ninth overall in career points  (29,580) and third in total rebounds (17,834) throughout his professional career. Malone was named to the ABA All-Time Team and the NBA’s 50th Anniversary team; he was inducted into the basketball hall of fame in 2001.
