Hersey Hawkins scored his 7,000th point during a Seattle SuperSonics versus Utah Jazz game in 1996. Hawkins sunk an impressive 12-foot jumper with 7:58 left in the fourth quarter. Hawkins was an NBA shooting guard for 12 years and played for four teams. Prior to his NBA career, Hawkins was a member of the last collegiate USA men’s national basketball team at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul where they won bronze. In 1989, Hawkins made his NBA debut with the Philadelphia 76ers where he earned NBA All-Rookie First Team Honors. Hawkins was then traded to the Charlotte Hornets starting with #32 and ending with #3. Hawkins then played for the Seattle SuperSonics and won the NBA Sportsmanship Award during his 1999 season. Hawkins retired with a total of 14,470 points and 14.7 ppg average.
