Today in Sports History: December 4

By Jonah Sharf

On December 4, 1997, Latrell Sprewell of the Golden State Warriors was suspended for one year for physically attacking head coach P.J. Carlesimo. During the incident, he choked and threw punches at his coach, which was one of several reported violent incidents during his career. Despite these incidents, Sprewell was still a solid basketball player, being named to four NBA All-Star teams and an All-NBA First Team, averaging 18 points per game over his 13-year career.
