Today in Sports History: November 10

By Jonah Sharf

On November 10, 1963, Gordie Howe broke Maurice “Rocket” Richard’s all-time goals record by scoring his 545th goal. Howe would finish his incredible career with 801 goals, a record that seemed unbreakable until “The Great One” Wayne Gretzky broke it. Gretzky would finish with 894 goals in his career. While many of Howe’s records have been broken by Gretzky, he is still considered one of the greatest players of all time, having led his Detroit Red Wings to four Stanley Cup championships. Howe was also a six time Hart Trophy winner, awarded to hockey’s most valuable player.
