By Jonah Sharf

On November 1, 2000, Pat Riley led the Miami Heat to a win for his 1,000th career regular season win. He was the second coach in NBA history to record 1,000 career wins after Lenny Wilkens. Seven other NBA coaches have since joined the 1,000 win club, which is full of legendary coaches such as Don Nelson, Jerry Sloan, Gregg Popovich, and Phil Jackson, in addition to Riley. As head coach of the Lakers and Heat, Riley led his teams to five NBA championships and earned three NBA Coach of the Year awards, in addition to his 1,000 wins.
