Today in Sports History: October 6

By Jonah Sharf

On October 6, 1993, the legend Michael Jordan announced his retirement a few months after completing a three-peat with the Chicago Bulls. Jordan was fresh off his third straight Finals MVP award when he decided to step away. MJ tried to pursue a baseball career during his retirement, signing a minor league contract with the Chicago White Sox. His baseball career ended however, when in March of 1995 he announced his return to the NBA and the Bulls. Jordan went on to lead the Bulls to another three-peat starting in 1996, finishing off one of the greatest basketball careers of all time.
