On September 30, 1992, legendary third baseman George Brett of the Kansas City Royals recorded the 3,000th hit of his career. Brett finished with the most career hits of any third baseman in MLB history, and is considered one of the greatest of all time to play the position. During his 21-year career with the Royals, he was a 13-time All-Star, AL MVP, ALCS MVP, and won a World Series. He is one of four (retired) players in MLB history to record 3,000 hits, 300 home runs, and a .300 batting average over his career. Brett was a first-ballot Hall of Famer in 1999.
