On September 3, 1974, Cincinnati Royals and Milwaukee Bucks legend Oscar Robertson retired from the NBA after 14 seasons. During his career, he was selected as an NBA All-Star 12 times, won Rookie of the Year, one MVP award, and won an NBA Championship in 1971 with the Bucks. Robertson is known for always being a threat to earn a triple double—he was the first player in NBA history to average a triple double over an entire season in just his second season, a record that was matched in 2017 by Russell Westbrook. Robertson also holds the record for most triple doubles in a career by far with 181; the next closest is Magic Johnson with 138. “The Big O” was remarkably consistent throughout his career, averaging 25.7 points per game, 7.5 rebounds per game, and 9.5 assists per game, and is considered one of the greatest point guards and players of all time.
