The Dallas Mavericks surprised fans with their first-ever championship win over the Miami Heat in 2011. After trailing 2-1 in the Finals, the Mavericks won the championship in six games. They were the only team since 1988 to come back and win the Finals after being down two or more times during the series. This was the second time the Mavericks met the Heat in the Finals (perviously the Heat defeated the Mavericks in 2006). The Mavericks’ win marks the first time since 1999 that the Dallas Fort Worth areas celebrated a major sports win.
