In 1992, Clyde Drexler and Christian Laettner were selected as the final two members of the “Dream Team,” U.S. Olympic Men’s Basketball team. This all-star lineup was the first Olympics team to draw from working athletes in the National Basketball Association. It included Charles Barkley, Larry Bird, Patrick Ewing, Magic Johnson, Michael Jordan, Karl Malone, Chris Mullin, Scottie Pippen, David Robinson, and John Stockton were named. Christian Laettner and Clyde Drexler. The undefeated Dream Team went on to win the gold medal in the 1992 Olympics in Barcelona, Spain.
Drexler, nicknamed “Clyde the Glide” was a ten-time NBA All-Star and spent 15 seasons in the NBA. Drexler spent 12 seasons with the Portland Trail Blazers before finishing his career with the Houston Rockets and capturing a championship in 1995. He currently serves as the commissioner for Big3-on-3 basketball and as a color commentator for the Rockets.
