In 2000, the NBA announced that Stu Jackson would join the NBA as Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations. Jackson, the former President and General Manager of the Vancouver Grizzlies, took over the position held by Rod Thorn. Jackson began his basketball career at the University of Oregon and transitioned to assistant coach at Washington State University. He became the second-youngest head coach at age 33 when the New York Knicks hired him in 1989. He spent two seasons coaching the Wisconsin Badgers and led the NCAA team to the 1994 Tournament.
