In 1994, Chris Webber of the Golden State Warriors became the first rookie to total over 1,000 points (1,333), 500 rebounds (694), 250 assists (272), 150 blocks (164) and 75 steals (93). He was selected as the no. 1 pick in the 1993 NBA draft as sophomore at the University of Michigan. Webber was the only sophomore since Magic Johnson to be selected as the NBA’s no. 1 overall draft pick. Webber was selected by the Orlando Magic then immediately traded to the Golden State Warriors where he earned Rookie of the Year and averaged 17.5 points and 9.1 rebounds per game. He spent four seasons with the Washington Bullets/Wizards before being traded to the Sacramento Kings. With the Kings, Webber established himself as a power forward and led the team to six playoff games. After Webber was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers, the Kings did not make the playoffs for another 12 years. Webber ended his NBA career with the Golden State Warriors and retired in 2008. He is currently a sports commentator and collector of African-American artifacts.
