On March 12, 1985, Larry Bird, one of the greatest all-around NBA players in history, had himself a career night against the Atlanta Hawks. Bird really got into a so-called “zone” in the second half of the Celtics 126-115 victory, scoring 32 of his career-high 60 points during just a 14-minute span. Bird, one of the greatest volume shooters of all-time, amongst many things, shot a red-hot 22/36 from the field, while also going 15/16 from the charity stripe. Bird, who won his second of three consecutive league MVP awards in this 1984-85 season, averaged 28.7 points per game (on 52.2% shooting from the field, 42.7% from behind the arch, and 88.2% from the foul line), alongside 10.5 rebounds per game, and 6.6 assists per game. Bird, known rightfully so by many as “Larry Legend,” was one of the most competitive, fundamentally adept, and crafty basketball players that we are ever going to see in our lifetime.
