On this day in 2000, John Stockton, of the Utah Jazz, appeared in his 1,271st NBA game, making him the record-holder for most career games played for one team. Stockton spent his entire 19-season NBA career with the Utah Jazz and still maintains the record with 1,504 total appearances. Stockton was known for his surreal passing ability. His durability allowed him to play 17 seasons without missing a single game. During Stockton’s career, the Jazz never missed the playoffs and he helped the team reach the NBA finals twice. In both Finals series, the Jazz lost to Michael Jordan’s Chicago Bulls. Stockton is still regarded as one of the games greatest point guards and remains as the NBA All-Time Assists and Steals Leader. Stockton recorded 15,806 assists and 3,265 total assists. A 10x NBA All-Star, Stockton was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame in 2009 and his no.12 was retired by the Utah Jazz.
