In 2001, Shaquille O’Neal and Allen Iverson both scored more than 40 points during Game 1 of the NBA Finals. This marked the second time in league history that players from opposing teams both recorded more than 40 points. Iverson of the Philadelphia 76ers score 48 points and the Lakers’ Shaquille O’Neal scored 44 points. The 76ers won 107-101 in overtime.
