Mark Price ended his 77 consecutive free throw streak during a 1993 Cleveland Cavaliers versus Charlotte Hornets game. Price’s missed free throw put him in second place behind Calvin Murphy who held the record at 78. Murphy’s record was later surpassed by Michael Williams who had a 97 free-throw streak which started in the 1992-93 season and ended in the 1993-94 season. Price was a point guard who played 12 seasons with the NBA. He began his career with the Cleveland Cavaliers and was known as a consistent shooter with a 90.4 free-throw percentage. The Cleveland Cavaliers retired his no. 25 jersey and he finished his career with 10,989 points (15.2 ppg). After his playing career, Price coached the Duluth High School varsity boys team and later Georgia Tech. He won the Coach Wooden “Keys to Life” Award in 2002 for his work with Georgia Tech. Price was a consultant for the Denver Nuggets and is credited with helping the Boston Celtics reach the 2010 NBA Finals.
