On May 26, 1999, high-flying Toronto Raptor Vince Carter was named Rookie of the Year, averaging 18.3 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. Carter was known for his high-flying style of play, winning the 2000 NBA Slam Dunk Contest in one of the most entertaining Dunk Contests of all time. Carter is an 8-time NBA All-Star as well as an Olympic Gold Medal winner, and is currently fifth on the all-time games played list.
