On March 22, 1894, the first ever Stanley Cup championship was played in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Since 1926, only the NHL gave out the Stanley Cup every year except for 2005, when there was a lockout. Since it has been awarded, the Montreal Canadiens have won the Cup the most times with the Toronto Maple Leafs landing in second.
