On March 11, 2000, Rolando Blackman, who at the time held 24 franchise records for the Dallas Mavericks, had his jersey retired. Blackman was the second player for Dallas ever to have his jersey retired, after Brad Davis, and was later joined by his teammate Derek harper. Blackman is a member of the College Basketball Hall of Fame for his time with Kansas State, having been elected Big Eight Conference Player of the Year and All-American in 1980, and named the Big Eight Defensive Player of the Year three times throughout his college career. Blackman spent most of his NBA career with Dallas, and was a four-time All-Star, averaging 18 points per game over 13 seasons.
