Today in Sports History: March 10

By Jonah Sharf

On March 10, 2004, Richard “Rip” Hamilton played a game with his famous mask on for the first time after breaking his nose twice during the season, and wore it for the majority of the rest of his career. Later on in that same season, Rip and the Detroit Pistons pulled off a big upset in the NBA Finals, beating the Los Angeles Lakers in five games to win the NBA Championship. Hamilton was a solid contributor throughout his career, averaging 17.1 points per game and helping the Pistons to six consecutive eastern conference finals from 2003-2008.
