On December 30, 1990, Scott Skiles of the Orlando Magic set the NBA record for most assists in a game with 30 against the Denver Nuggets. The Magic beat the Nuggets 155-116, with Skiles leading the way with 22 points to go to 30 assists and two steals. Partially inflated by the unprecedented assist total in the December game, Skiles finished the season averaging 8.4 assists per game—although his career high average came two seasons later with 9.4. Other than the 30-assist game, Skiles had a rather ordinary career, with the assist record and a Most Improved Player award that season being his career highlights.
