On November 18, 1985, Washington quarterback Joe Theismann’s career was ended by one hit from Lawrence Taylor. Upon being sacked by Taylor, Theismann suffered a compound fracture of both his fibula and tibia and would never return to football again. During his career, Theismann was selected to two pro bowls, won an NFL MVP award, and helped lead Washington to a Super Bowl victory at Super Bowl XVII.
