On October 22, 2000, Roger Clemens and Mike Piazza, then playing for the Yankees and Mets, respectively, sparked one of the most famous bench clearing scrums in World Series history when Clemens threw Piazza’s broken bat towards him. This came after Clemens hit Piazza on the head with a pitch during the regular season, and there was clearly bad blood between the two. Despite the benches clearing, no ejections were given after the chaos was sorted out.
